Development of high technologies in the world motor vehicle production dictates its tendencies to Uzbek manufacturers as well, that is why the installation of new equipment at the enterprises specialized on localization of manufacture is a guarantee of efficient and mobile work. Now the professionals of the local automotive industry have an excellent opportunity not only to produce spare parts and component parts but also to ensure maximum measurement efficiency for their products. In what way? The Metrology Center representatives will answer all the questions.

Every enterprise in any industry all over the world has laboratories which are liable for quality of manufactured products, the specialists perform tests based on various criteria, also using a measuring equipment to perfect a product. However how to be sure that the quality of measurement meets international standards and is accurate, be it a dashboard or engine that rolled off the production line at “GM Powertrain Uzbekistan” plant? So, now you do not need to look hard to find accurate measurements, you just need to consult with the specialists of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent city.
Initially it was planned to establish an independent agency which provides the expert reports on serviceability of standard instruments and measuring equipment used for production and renders metrological services both to automotive enterprises and to other organizations that need such services, however it was decided to arrange a measuring laboratory on the basis of the Metrology Center at the University which will be an integral part of the academic process for students.
The proposal from foreign partners did not keep waiting for too long. In 2010 “Hexagon Metrology” company that successfully conquers the Central Asian market in the sphere of metrological equipment showed interest in cooperating with Turin Polytechnic University. The same year the Metrology Center’s employees, Shokhrukh Ruziev and Ruslan Khakimzyanov undertook an internship at the enterprises of “Hexagon Metrology” in Italy and Germany. They undertook comprehensive training in the sphere of service maintenance of Quindos 7 metrological software and CMMs (coordinate measuring machines). In 2011 the Metrology Center in Tashkent was equipped with DEA Global Advantage 09.20.08 CMM complete with LSP X-5 Probe Head from Leitz and Quindos 7 software.
Purchase of the new equipment enabled the staff of the Metrology Center in Tashkent, in cooperation with the European engineers, to participate in maintenance works on installing and setting-up the instrumentation systems and training of CMM operators at “GM Powertrain Uzbekistan” enterprise.
The solemn ceremony of opening of the Metrology Center at the University was attended by many important and distinguished guests. The representatives of the diplomatic corps of Italy as well as leading specialists of the Uzbek automotive industry could see with their own eyes how the metrological equipment manufactured by “Hexagon Metrology” operated in the new center. During negotiations with Marco Pelissero, Vice President of “Hexagon Metrology”, who arrived to Tashkent to participate in the official ceremony of opening of the Metrology Center, it has been agreed that the service center of “Hexagon Metrology” company would be established on the basis of the measuring laboratory and the laboratory staff would perform quarterly maintenance of the instrumentation systems of the Uzbek enterprises.
Marco Pelissero, Vice President of “Hexagon Metrology” stated:
– I was very glad that the new Metrology Center at Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent city was equipped with the most up-to-date technologies. The equipment installed in the Center will be useful not only for Uzbekistan but also for all the neighboring countries. The CMM located here allows making accurate measurements and displays qualitative results. That is why our current purpose is to use advanced technologies for the activity of companies operating in the automotive industry and to enable the students of Turin Polytechnic University to become familiar with the production process in practice. Besides, the establishment of such center is an excellent opportunity for all the companies of “Uzavtosanost” to use it for measurement of their product quality. The metrological equipment shall significantly assist in operation of the entire automotive industry of the country.
The newly opened Metrology Center in Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent city is divided into two parts. One part contains the laboratory where all the required measurements will be made. Another part of the Center is designed for academic classes of the University students. Thus, theoretical and practical processes at the University shall be inseparable.
In the future the Metrology Center at Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent city shall be the only and main laboratory in Central Asia which shall provide the expert reports on serviceability of used standard instruments and measuring equipment and be generally liable for the quality of products with a label: “Made in Uzbekistan”. |
